Windows 7 install, bootable usb drive. unable to create a partition

Guys I need help!
I have a new ssd and am trying to install windows 7 on to it and at first it came up with some device drivers missing but i fixed that (i think) and now when it is time to choose with drive to install it to it says it is unable to create a partition or find one. I have been trying to fix this for the last week, literally.

Welcome to the community, jabiwoki!

I'd suggest you to check your BIOS settings and make sure that the SSD's SATA mode is set to AHCI. I'd also check your motherboard/computer's manufacturer website for any updates on the SATA/chipset drivers for your model. If that doesn't help, try resetting BIOS using one of these methods: http://www.wikihow.com/Reset-Your-BIOS
However, keep in mind that this would get your BIOS settings back to factory defaults, so you'd need to re-configure them afterwards.
I'd also try plugging the SSD to another computer and see if it's going to get properly recognized there. This is a good way to rule out other potential sources of the issue.

Hi

you have not said which motherboard you have

Some have a secondary hard disk controller requiring an additional driver before it can work
(so best not to use for a boot drive)

So read up in motherboard user guide which SATA ports are on which controller
