Hey all.

I have a GA-970A with a 8370 on it. My after-market fan is rubbing the heatsink and so, I'm guessing there isn't much I can do for it (is there?).

I'm considering to spend no more than 50-60$ but lower the better. I have tried to OC but my motherboard overheats and so I don't OC the CPU anymore. And I don't really need the performance.

I would want something quiet and long-lasting (this one only lasted 2 years).

I'm looking at the:

Cooler Master Seidon 120V, Hyper 12 Evo, or some artic cooling/deepcool fan.

Any suggestions other?

I also wanted to ask whether the Seidon would be a lot quieter than any of the hyper 12 evo or other fan heatsinks.

Are you running the stock heat sink that came with the 8370? Could be why your overheating. Why don't you switch back to the original fan. Rubbing of the fan would hinder it's ability to cool. If your upgrading the evo is a good choice.

No the rubbing is pretty minimal and I'm not over heating. The only issue I have is the sound of the plastic on metal. It's not the OEM fan and heatsink. I do have it, and I can use the OEM heatsink I suppose.

The issue I have is that I am not overclocking so I think the 212 might be over kill.

I value durability and silence most.

Has anyone heard anything good/bad about artic cooling or deep cool fans?

The Arctic cooling fans are alright. I've put one in my GF's computer for exhaust and it does what it should. They are quiet. Deep cool I have in my case as a bottom intake and it's good too. It pushes more air than the Corsair AF 120 i have as well. I've got and old PSU laying around actually few of them and what I did was plug the fans into it just to see. The Deep cool was a bit louder but the fan blades are much wider so it pushes more air but....it's 3 pin. That is the Xfan. The Arctic cooling fan was the f9 silent but I'm not sure how it will fair in a congested area like heat sink. You would need a high static pressure fan. Corsair SP 120's are pretty good. Also got 2 of those as intakes sucking through case filter. There's a silent version as well.
