Need help connecting to my company's local server.

The IT guy at my company left a few months ago and, even though I have no experience or training, I've become the impromptu IT guy.

So we recently got some new computers and I've been setting them up. Everything was going fine until I went to connect to our local server and it asked me for the user name and password. I have no idea what the user name and password are and I can't find it in any of the information our old IT guy left.

Does anyone have any idea how I can recover this information?

Solution
You need to know the Domain Administrator password, which you obviously don't. Windows Server security is such that there is no way to administer your network without this password. You are being asked to do something beyond your capabilities. A trained professional may, or may not, be able to fix this but you can't. Your choices are:

1 Hire a professional.
2 Rebuild your network from scratch (which will need the help of a professional).
3 Get a new job.
4 Persuade the guy to cooperate.

Be aware that the former IT guy is breaking the law if he refuses to give you the information that you need. A network guy in California was jailed for such behaviour last year. I think he got 10 years.

He didn't exactly leave on good terms, so contacting him isn't going to be an option.

Why would no-one here tell me how to do it? All the other computers in the building are connected, I just have three new ones to add and I'm getting nowhere.

What other options do I have?

There is no easy way of doing it. In order to connect to the server, you should know that server' administrator password. If you don't, tell your manager that this is beyond your skills. It's now his/her problem to hire a person / company to restore access, because right now you are hostages.

As a temporary solution: Try connecting that new computer using known username / password. You might be able to gain access to server' resources.

Unfortunately the former IT guy was also the manager(very small company) so all this is falling on my head.

Like I mentioned before, we have other computers that are already connected. Is there any way I can use one of those to get the new ones hooked up?
