Hey guys, i recently changed my motherboard and my CPU, and when i reinstalled my 16GB of ram (4x4gb) it seems to have gone wrong. In Bios it shows 16GB, in PC properties it shows 16GB (3.97GB usable) and cpuz shows 4096mg single channel. Im very confused to whats going on. how can it recognise that there are 4 sticks of ram, and that its 16GB but only use 4gb of it and say that its in dual channel.

Before anyone asks the obvious, im running Windows 8.1 64bit, not 32bit.

Thanks guys, and any help would be much appreciated

Is this with the G3258 rig in your sig? Couple of thoughts, first is the CPU cooler may be too tight in a corner or side throwing the CPU out of level so not getting full contact with the pins (which can affect the MC), might also want to clean the contacts on each stick of DRAM, also did all 4 sticks of DRAM come in a single package? If not then it could be compatibility issues (what are the model #s of the sticks and we can try adjustments), could also be bent/broken pins in the socket

You could be right, lol. Is that the specs to your system Jam?

Hey dudes, sorry about not reponding, ive been up at the hospital with my wife, were expecring our first child, so i havent been able to get on to answer.

Littleleo - tried the virgin thing, it didnt work. Ill try a slut next week :p.

Tradesman1 - it is 2 sticks of hyperx beast, and 2 random budget sticks. I figured they wouldnt work together, but though it was worth a try. In the end i couldnt get them all to work together, but the budget sticks would only work in a specific configuration. For example, one of the sticka had to be in slot 3 and the othet in alot 1. If i swapped the sticks, neither would work :p

Anyway, thanks a lot for your help dude. In fhe end i built a guy a system with them in it :p
