Over the last couple months, my computer was starting to have issues getting past the POST. Sometimes it would, sometimes not and it would always hang at the ASUS ROG screen telling you how to get into the BIOS, but never budge from there. Sometimes it would even say "Updating bios, don't restart or power off your machine" and I have no clue how it got to that stage. My short term solution was to just stop turning off or putting my computer to sleep, and I'd have absolutely no problems as long as it was on.
Today I decided to try and figure out what was going on and fix it. First I tried clearing the CMOS. It booted up, went into the BIOS, I told it to exit without saving (since I didn't change anything) and it booted windows no problem. So I restarted it to see if it would happen again or boot properly. It froze at the splash screen again.
I tried clearing the CMOS, and even removed the CMOS battery and switched off my PSU for about 10 minutes while I looked up some other possible solutions on my phone. Popped the CMOS battery in, turned on the machine, went into the BIOS settings, changed the chassis fan settings (default made them loud) and hit save and exit. It reset, and froze at the BIOS screen again, but my changes to the fan profile had taken effect.
Tried restarting several times from there and could not get past the BIOS splash or into the BIOS. I finally managed to get in to windows again, downloaded an updated file (Was on v2002, updated to v2201) and flashed to the BIOS using AI Suite. Disaster.
I now get error codes on the board that are never consistent and will be any of the following: 00, 05, 10, or 5d, most of which aren't defined in the manual or are defined as "reserved for future codes". I can not get into the BIOS at all, never see the ASUS ROG splash screen, and I'm thoroughly at a loss on what to do now.
I've unplugged everything USB except a cheap 8 dollar keyboard that I keep around as a spare, removed both GPUs, all RAM, all SATA cables (HDDs, SSDs, DVDs) reseated every cable between my PSU and MOBO, none of it made a difference (though RAM being out did result in error 50 which means no RAM, per the manual).
Is my board bricked? Is there a way to re-flash via USB thumbstick when you can't get into the BIOS?
