I needed a new comp so i slapped one together and it was surprisingly easy as far as assembly goes. But now i am getting close to installing windows 7 on the Samsung 850 EVO 120GB hard drive i bought purely to run the OS on. I have a second 1 terabyte WD black drive for pretty much everything else.

I really don't know how to go about setting up this SSD though. I have never used one before and i hear you can do things wrong like defrag them. What i would like to run on the SSD is Windows 7 home premium 64 bit and make a second partition for Linux Mint because i want to learn how to use linux for when i eventually have to switch over because of Microsofts data mining.

Should i split this HD in half and use 60GB for windows and 60 GB for Linux? Or should i give Windows more room than Linux?

Also, when i get this computer running how do i set up trim is it something that the samsung cd will guide me though or something i have to download from somewhere else?

I really am lost here thanks for the help.

Another question... When i go to install the motherboard software/drivers would i put it on the windows side of the hard drive? Same question with the Samsung software that came with the SDD.
