I currently have a ECS A55F2P-M2 and I want to buy the R9 290 Graphics Card but I checked the compatibility and the boards next gen was on there which is the A55F-M3. So I am wondering if there is a big difference and will the R9 290 work on my A55F2P-M2?

Solution
There's no doubt that your motherboard is compatible with the R9 290 , because your board has PCIe 3.0 x16 slots.
Can you tell us what PSU do you have ,because the R9 290 is a very power hungry card.
The R9 290 will work on your motherboard , but we need to know the Power Supply model that you have.

I have the diablotek DA series 500 Wat atx power supply. Thanks again and please do let me know if it will power that card. I currently have the r7 260x and im looking for better performance/FPS.

The diablotek series is a tier5 psu, which is why I'd not put the full 500w required gpu on one, actually pushing the issue with a 450w req gpu, tier5 units tend to be highly unstable when pushed 60% or greater of rated power.

At 750w, the Evga B2 is a Bronze 80+ unit that is an excellent buy at $45 and is large enough to power just about any single gpu commercialy available. Will handle a r9 290 easily.

Diablotek gets bonus points for the name. "OK guys, we need a brand name that combines imagery of Satan with the idea of technology. And hopefully a cutesy spelling of tech, too, now that I think about it."

I like Huntkey better, cuz if you ever do find the key to open up the psu performance, it goes 'boom' surprise! Booby trapped! Although to be fair, the Diablotek is a DA series, as in 'Dumb A** for buying it in the first place, sorry OP, but there relatively few name brand psu's that are worse than the one you own.

You will be fine. With that psu you can power anything just about, so are not limited to a r9 290, you can choose whatever gpu your budget will allow, be it a 290 or gtx980ti. Your mobo is sufficient for any modern gpu.

PCI Express 3.0 x16. That's all you need, and thats exactly what you have. The only drawback will be the cpu. If your cpu/apu isn't sufficiently powerful to keep up with the top range gpus, you'll have spent money for nothing, so just be advised that a r9 390/gtx970 is about as strong as you'll need, but a good match for the better fm2 cpus. If you have an a4, a 290/290x/380 or gtx960 would be a better match up.
