I have recently purchased a Samsung SSD Evo 850 but I can't seem to install Windows to it. I currently have Windows 10 on my HDD.
I have a Windows 8.1 Pro ISO image on my USB but when I boot it, it says that a media driver is missing: http://i.imgur.com/SQ4Tuu4.jpg
I have tried to boot my Windows 10 USB but I got the same error.
My SSD does have a partition: http://i.imgur.com/2b8N7ja.png (The 232 GB disk is the SSD)
I tried formatting it via recovery menu in CMD but it didn't help. I can't use a CD because I don't have an optical drive.
Help me please.

Hi

What program did you use to make the USB memory device a Bootable Windows Install disk?

What program did you use to make the single partition on the SSD?
It will need several partitions depending on if using GPT or MBR partitioning scheme so the existing one will be need to be removed during the installation.

It is best you disconnect power & sata from existing HDD while installing Windows as Windows install is likely to use & modify the existing boot files on existing HDD instead of create them on the new SSD

Try different USB ports
if using USB 3 ports try USB 2 ports on motherboard (or vica versa)

if this fails then most PC's will boot up from external USB DVD drives and install from a Windows DVD

I used a program called "ISO to USB" for USB and Windows disk management to make SSD as a partition. It was formatted using MBR.
I don't think HDD can cause this since Boot order is: 1. USB/DVD 2. SSD 3. HDD
My USB is 2.0 and I tried it from 2.0 port. I will try it on 3.0 now.
I can't use a DVD because I don't have an optical drive.

Hi

There is a official microsoft program for putting windows 7 onto usb using official windows iso or dvd
It also works with win 8
Win 10 has its own version (actually a 32 & 64 bit version) which can download or take existing iso to build bootable win 10 usb or dvd

But before re creating usb bootable windows disk try yours on another pc and see if it will boot up to start of install or repair windows

Boot order wont protect against problem of windows install using existing boot partition on hdd which is no longer the boot drive

Dont worry about ssd firmware until you find out how to boot up your windows usb disk

If you cant get usb to boot you may have to buy or borrow a dvd or usb dvd drive

Finally mbr or gpt is a partitioning option not a formatting option
