WD Black Current Pending Sector count increasing.

I bought a WD Black 2tb drive supposedly top of the line just over a month ago. Upon installing it I checked it with Hd tune pro and crystaldiskinfo all came back nominal. Now during a routine system check I discovered that the current pending sector count had risen to 41. I wouldn't be surprised if the relocated sector count went up but I think that this means that sectors are not getting remapped and data is getting corrupted. I'm going to try running check disk with attempt recovery of bad sectors enabled. Any advice welcome Thankyou for your time.

If you already have sectors that are unstable and are awaiting remapping, as seems to be the case, on a month old drive, you need to immediately backup your data to a cloud or external storage and RMA the drive.

Unfortunately, it does seem like the WD Black is giving up on you!

I'd second what @darkbreeze mentioned and advise you to back up any important data from the drive ASAP. Once you've done that, contact our customer support and let them know about the bad sectors on the HDD. Once you've sent your RMA request, you can track the RMA status from our website.
