I'm a computer science student , so I should have proper knowledge of at least one operating system . I have little experience on Ubuntu i.e i won't feel weird on shifting from Windows to Ubuntu .
Initially , I installed Ubuntu because it was user friendly ,but now i think i should use and learn operating system that support my needs in future .

I want to go in field on networking and internet OR android development ( Narrowed downed to 2 choices at present) .

CentOS if you ever plan on getting a job that uses Linux.

Otherwise I typically use Xubuntu, which is just Ubuntu using Xfce(the graphical environment). It has a massive community so lots of free support right at your fingertips, and typically as up to date with stuff on Linux as it gets.
CentOS is a good choice because it is basically free redhat and that is what you will find as a sysadmin . Otherwise Ubuntu, Debian or Mint are also good for general use.

If you want to get more intimate with how your system works Arch or gentoo are good choices ;)
