Hello everyone,

My problem is with my Hard Drive. It's less then 3 months old and (before the sounds became an issue) after a while, there was a slight humming/buzzing sound. Didn't make a big deal because I've been using a laptop for many years and wasn't used to PC sounds.

Anyway, it became an issue once I started recording with a microphone and I can hear it in the background. I brushed it off for a few days, decided to look it up and start to backup some files.

Right after I went to get a flash drive to transfer them to, I hear a clicking noise.. I was able to navigate fine through the Operating System but I transferred what I could and shut the computer off. I go look up symptoms on my laptop and find out that it's most likely damaged/dead. Come back to turn it on and now it's beeping and can't be booted.

Is there anyway to retrieve the files? I just bought a 'Usb 2.0 to 3.5'' SATA/IDE cable' and was going to try and boot a flash drive and go from there.

***In short: Began to notice humming/buzzing noise > clicking noise started > beeping noise occurs (can't boot drive)

Hey there, Trey_Robb!

This seems rather unfortunate as the clicking noises you hear are most probably indicating a physical hardware failure of your HDD. I'd strongly recommend you to back up any important data from it somewhere else ASAP, since you cannot access it from your computer, you could try plugging it to a different PC and see if you'd be able to get anything off of it from there. Since the hard drive is only a couple of months with you, you should contact the HDD manufacturer's customer support or the reseller's, and let them know about the noises. Either one of them should be able to provide you with a replacement!

Best of luck! Hope I was helpful!
