Hello everyone.
A quick question about phone wiring.
I need to replace 3 phone cables running trough my property. all 3 are carrying both telephone signal and the broadband. The distance is about 200 meters (~660 feet) and someone told me that i can use single CAT5/6 cable for all 3 lines and that 100 meters limit applies only to LAN applications and not to ADSL/phone. Is this true?
I know that CAT5 is multi purpose cable, but i can't seam to find details about using it for phone lines.
Could someone shed some light on the matter?

Phone cable is cat 3 twisted pair. Cat 5/6 network cable uses the same copper wire but with tighter and more regularly spaced twists. So it should actually work better with less crosstalk than the original phone line.

And yes, DSL will be fine over cat 5/6, and work out to several thousand meters (however far the DSL is spec'ed for). It's just more expensive than cat 3.
Yes the limit only applies to LAN connections with Cat 5/6 wire. If there are already 3 phone lines there, they are simply 3x2 pairs of wire. Copper wire is copper wire. Don't see why it wouldn't work. There is no shielding in phone wires, or anything special. Just a straight piece of copper.

so you don't think that crosstalk between the lines will be an issue?
