Should I change my 500W PSU if upgrading to an MSI GTX 970?

So... I'm planning on buying an MSI GTX 970 to replace my ancient HD6670 (you may now laugh); obviously a large upgrade, but would my 500W PSU do the job?

Here come the specs:

CPU - i5 4690K
Mobo - ASUS Maximus VII Ranger
Memory - 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro @ 2133MHz
HDD - Two of them!
SDD - None of them! (GASP!)
Graphics card - (Current) Radeon HD6670
And the PSU... - Corsair CX500 (That was my dad's decision BTW)
+ A few windy fans and other small accessories

Based on the maximum power usage of the CPU and GPU, they shouldn't consume more than 300W.
I might overclock the GTX970 for some tasks (X-Plane 10 being one of them), but I'm more of an environmentalist; hence why I think changing PSUs is less economical for this configuration.

Now, I've got a rugby world cup game to watch, so I may be away from time to time. But all and any responses are appreciated! (I'll delete that bit about rugby after the match!)

Yes, it should do the job. The GTX 970 uses only 145W of power under load. Your radeon HD 6670 uses around 130W of power under load. So there's no big difference.

Make sure you have a 8 pin and a 6 pin connector for your GTX 970.
A quality 550w unit would run the system quite well, however given the fact the CX500 is not a quality unit (low quality caps) I cant recommend it. (I had a CX500 and a 5450, dont worry I feel the pain XD)

If you dont mind doing MIR, this unit is nearly impossible to beat at that price range (45 dollars)

If that's the case, then I'm good to go!
Of course, I can always buy the PSUs you guys suggested I need be, so thank you very much!
