The title says it all.

I will barely live stream and record, but will mostly play medium games. I would mostly want the best performance w/o recording and live streaming. The live streaming and recording only comes 2 times a week.

I will play...

GTA V
BF4
Minecraft
CSGO
etc.

Which will give me the best performance? Also, by what estimate FPS?

Doesn't the i5 and GTX 960 feel more balanced?

The cpus are all roughly equal in performance, loosely equal at that, and are pretty insignificant when dealing with the performance difference between a gtx960 and a gtx970. If you are familiar with older cards, the gtx960 is slightly better than a gtx770 in most games, and the gtx970 is better than a gtx780ti. That's a pretty large gap by any standard.

The i5 4690k is by far the most powerful cpu in your lineup, and has the OC option for even better results, which even with a good OC, the 6300 can't match. In games like bf4 with multi-core optimization, the 6300 gains points for having 6 cores, but for most other games, the 6300 looses out as full cores aren't used and AMD single thread performance is dismal compared to Intel...

Why are you only worrying about yourself? This is a forum to help other people. Can't you just roll with it? If not, then get off of this thread. I specifically asked which combo is better. Not your opinion on another build.

I mostly play GTA V and BF4, and I've seen some testing on GTA V and the FX 6300 was way above the i3 by 10FPS.

$10 more gets you way more performance.

Without a really good OC (4.5-4.8) the 6300 just won't keep up with the potential of the 970, so the gpu goes partially wasted. The opposite is true of the 4690k/960 where the cpu is capable, the gpu gets maxed easily.

As CTurbo stated, the best balance would be the 4460, 4 cores at decent stock speeds with Intel single thread performance, paired with a gtx970 with its graphics power. It's a better overall average performance vrs a few definite wins by the 6300/970 and many definite losses by the 4690k/960
