Hi, I am having a lot of difficulty deciding which route to take, external DAC with amp or internal high end sound card with amp. I need a really low output impedance that will be low as possible.

I want the sound source that is best for competitive gaming that provides the best immersion and positional imaging in games. The headphones I will be using are the Audio Technica AD900X with audio Technica 2020 Plus usb mic.

My price range is under 400 preferably for the sound source.

Advice from a gaming audiophile will be sweet as well.

Almost all headsets are virtual surround, in other words, stereo. 2 drivers, one on each side. So, yes, audio technical head phones are capable of immersion.

As for just plugging it into my mobo, my motherboard is really old, EVGA x58 4 way sli classified. The sound card built into the motherboard produces a tonn of em waves. The audio technical ad 900x are sensitive headphones pick that up easy. Also the onboard sound is 10 ohm impedance, it is a known fact,1/8 rule. My headphones are 32 ohms, my motherboard sound impedance is at least 10 ohms, therefore it is well away from the 1/8 rule. Therefore audio degradation is taking place.

These are audiophile headphones, if I wanted crappy sound I'd just use my astro a 50 headphones with the built in mic :).
Please no cookie cut answer with no research backing it. I know what I'm talking about, impedance is a big thing on sensitive headphones. Hence why am asking those with experience, preferably audiophiles regarding my sound source with under 2 ohm output impedance.
If you've seen binaural videos, ull know that headphones are capable of positional imaging(term for being able to tell where the footsteps are coming from with decent accuracy)

I don't know how this got solved :/.

And I still think I know way better! :)
