Hello,

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like you have two 8GB sticks of RAM in your machine and one of them is malfunctioning.
If this is the case, to test:
1) Switch off PC.
2) Take out 1 stick of RAM.
3) Switch back on PC.
4) It should come up with either 8GB of RAM detected, OR memory error - no RAM detected (Or something to that effect.) If it's the latter, that's your defective stick.

However, RAM generally has a decent warranty on it, so you should be able to contact the manufacturer.
As per usual, I am merely a humble servant on these boards and you'll find people with much more experience than I which might have better ideas.
