EVGA 550W GS series

i have recently bought an EVGA 550W gs series PSU and i was just wondering if:
a) Is it a good unit?
b) will it supply enough power for a 2 way SLI with two MSI GTX 970's and an overclocked i5 4690k or i7 4790k (I think the power draw for both the i5 and i7 is the same but i'm not 100% sure)

I would be grateful for any and all responses.

Get a good 700w or 750w psu and you would be fine

The EVGA SuperNOVA 550 GS (220-GS-0550-V1) is insufficient for two GeForce GTX 970 in 2-way SLI mode.

The PSU's +12 Volt continuous current rating of 45 Amps is too low.

I don't know much about PSU's. But on pcpartpicker's power requirement bit it says that 2 way sli of gtx 970's only requires around 450W (i think. i cant really remember). It also says that there are no compatibility issues with these parts.

Any wattage calculator is going to be wrong. Thats just how they are.
Wattage also is not the only thing to consider, amperage also matters. The unit is not capable of running two 970s, its that simple.

That aside, it is a great quality unit.

For SLI setups you should consider around 750W. There is no reason to cut wattages so close on units.

You should get at least a good 700w or get 750w and have more space for oc etc
