How do I best extend WiFi range, how well does ICS work in general and how does it work with Chromecast?

I have WiFi in my apartment, but my router is located as far away from my bedroom as possible, so I can't use it. I'm using ethernet for my PC, but I have to use 4G with my phone, which is limited to 6GB per month, and my chromecast is way too slow to use. I want WiFi for my chromecast and phone, so I'm wondering what my options are and what you recommend.

I was thinking of purchasing a wireless NIC and set up ICS, but I'm wondering if there's a catch (besides the fact that I can only connect when my computer is powered on). Will I get the same experience from an ICS connection as a general WiFi connection?

Also, if my chromecast is connected to my ICS but my PC is connected to my router, will my PC be smart enough to stream directly to the chromecast through ICS (Like LAN), or will it be stupid and send it to the router?

ICS should be far down your choice of things to try. It works ok but you now converted you expensive computer into a $20 router. You have to be very careful what you run on the computer to not disrupt the traffic flowing though it.

So you have a ethernet cable in your room that connects your pc to the router in the other room?

If that is true just buy a inexpensive router and us it as a AP. You can still plug your pc into the AP and run wired and the other equipment will connect to the AP via wireless.
