Which budget chipset is good for FX6300?

Everyone has been telling me that the 970 chipset Motherboards are the best budget mobos. Though, 760G mobos are ok.

NOTE: I will not be overclocking the FX 6300... Ever in my life.

The 970 Mobo I plan to use is the ASRock 970 R2.0 ATX AM3+
The 760G Mobo I plan to use is the Gigabyte GA-78LMT USB3 Rev 6.0

Being and older chipset, it will have some minor performance affect. But I doubt you'd actually be able to see any noticeable difference in game play.

The Asrock board has SATA 3, the Gigabyte board only SATA 2. If you are using a SSD, you'll want the faster SATA 3 interface.

The Gigabyte board can be OC'ed safely due to its heat sinks on the VRMs. The Asrock board doesn't have heat sinks. But since OC'ing isn't your thing, that may not interest you.

The Gigabyte board has integrated video in case you ever need it. The Asrock board does not.

Both are good. The 900 series is a bit newer and has some improvements. But they may not be anything that interests you. The 760G chipset uses an older (slower) Hyper-transport that may have some affect on overall performance. (4400 MT/s vs 4800 MT/s). Probably not enough to make it a deal breaker either way.

You can compare the rest of the differences in the chip sets here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_chipsets

I'm really surprised Gigabyte hasn't taken their old standby AM3+ mATX board and used the 970 chip set in place of the older 760G by now.

So the 760G will degrade performance? I plan to make a PC build for at least 4-5 years usage. Since the 970 is newer and is in my budget, should I get the newest possible? (970?)
