Hi everyone,
I bought this Molex switch, because I need to turn off some SSD disk in my case physically. SSD has, of course, SATA power, so I connected: Molex -> switch -> converter Molex to SATA power -> SSD. But I was very surprised - SSD disk was working even the switch was in switched off state. I tested classic, magnetic disk and the behavior of this disk was OK (not working on switched off, working when switched on).
I examined switch: 5V and 12V are bridged to output, so only ground is going to switch. Ground is also connected (2 grounds from Molex to one ground to switch and to output).
I want to ask you for help, how to physically switch off disks by this switch? I can of course modify cable.
I'm also not sure, how it's possible, that disk is working even switched off? Isn't it that data cable also using ground?
I also tested to measure (between 5V of the switch and ground of the switch) and there wasn't any voltage when switched of and of course 5V appears when I switched on. To by absolutely sure, I also disconnected 12V, but SSD was still working in switched off state.

Thank you so much!

Solution
The data cable includes grounds, and if you screwed the SSD in then it's probably grounded to your case too.

I'd suggest switching the +5V line, or getting a dual-pole switch and switching both +5 and +12V.

An HDD might draw too much power for the data cable, or power the motor exclusively off one of the ground wires.
