MY BUDGET

My goal was around $1k including monitor. But can go up a bit or down a bit. Thoughts?

PRICING ON ABOVE [estimate]

build 1 is about $900 + monitor [$250]
build 2 is about $700 + monitor [$250]
the xps 8700 is $700 + monitor so the xps 8700 is same price as build 2
the imac is $1200 including 21.5 monitor
xps 8900 no pricing yet my guess it will be most expensive as it's new. updated the specs for it in post #2.

what are the prices for each? and what is your budget? I would go with build your own, you may have a better cpu in the pre built but the gpu is weaker.

You can generally build a much better pc than a pre built one for less. stay away for the imac, they are over priced for what you get.

I had put my budget in the bottom as well as estimated build amount build 1 $1200 inc monitor and 2 was 200 less...I tried to separate to make it clearer cause there's a lot there. Thanks.

I'm not planning on overclocking but might be good for someday...so if i overclocked 4690k with z97 would be way to go as the 46990k gets better reviews than the 4770k...but searching 4690k vs 4460 the opinion is mixed...leaning towards comments such as this... I would not bother with the 4690k or with overclocking. You'll find yourself spending around $100 or more to overclock and that money is better spent elsewhere like on the video card or ssd.
