How do I connect a new computer to my company's local server?

I previously posted here asking how to find my server's password. I've since contacted our old IT guy and he helped me find the password. But now I'm having trouble connecting the new computers to the server, and he's not sure how to do that.

So my question is, how do I get my new computers connected to our server? Do I have to add it from the server computer? And if so, how do I do that? The server we have is a Windows Server 2008 Standard and the computers I'm trying to connect are running Windows 10.
 
Your new computer must be Windows Professional in order to be able to join a domain. Go to Control Panel, System, Advanced System Properties, Computer Name, click on "Change" - and proceed as McHenryB suggested.

If you are going to do that job in the future (and provide technical support for your colleagues), you have to ask your manager to sign up for a training course (or give you time to study).
