Ok, I really messed up. I was replacing a hard drive in a laptop with a used one that I thought was empty. So I popped it in, formatted it, and installed Windows 7. Turns out I accidentally grabbed my backup hard drive that has all my music, videos, and pictures. My wedding pictures to be precise. Once I realized the mistake, I immediately turned off the computer, removed the hard drive, and haven't touched it since.
Definitely one of the dumbest things I've done in a while. I'm fortunate to have most of my data backed up in other places, but somehow the pictures in particular got overlooked. What is the most appropriate recovery software for this type of situation?
