I have bought 2 sets of Corsair Dominator Platinums 2x8gb and is planning to build a new rig using ASUS Sabertooth x99 motherboard and 5960x cpu, but on the specs page of the sabertooth x99 mobo it says it only supports DDR4 2400/2133 MHz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory. My question is will the sabertooth x99 mobo be able to run the RAM at 3000mhz if i set it to a XMP profile even if only 4 out of the 8 dimms are populated? Thanks in Advance!

Maybe, first there's no guarantees when mixing sets of DRAM (yes even of the same exact model), if they will play at boot it may well take a CPU OC and some voltage adjustments to get these sets to play, more on mixing in my article Fiction, item 2, here:
