Computer freezes then won't turn on for an hour?

My PC boots up normally and has no problems when I'm not playing games, but 20-30 minutes after playing games the displays on both my monitors are filled up with white vertical lines and then the computer becomes 100% unresponsive.

After this when I try to boot the PC it turns on but the monitor is not detected at all, none of my peripheral lights come on, but the ones for my headset specifically do (powered all by usb, I have swapped all USB connections around and the Headset consistently is the one that gets powered on) all of the fans power up along with the LED's inside the computer and then when I press the power button to turn the PC off it turns my PC off instantly, rather than taking 3-4 seconds of me holding it down to force a restart?

I have tested the temps for the CPU and GPU and they are both well below too hot for any problem.

After normally about an hour of me pulling wires out and plugging them back in randomly, pulling my graphics card out and swapping my ram sticks around into many different configurations, the PC turns on normally as it would and work perfectly without any problems for 30-45 minutes until it happenes again and again.

I did not make and system, software or hardware changes between my PC working and not working.

SPECS:

i5 2500k @ 4.2GHz
XFX 7970 black edition
8GB ddr3 ram
256gb sdd with OS on
1TB 3.5" black drive

Hey guys my PSU is a Corsair 600W CXM, it's only about a year old so I don't know why it would be that but I guess it could be. I was just under the impression that with PSU's they work or they dont.

Also, the problem DOES NOT happen when i am simply on youtube or whatever, but it happens within 5 minutes of playing War Thunder, it also happens when playing Europa Universalis IV which is not taxing on my PC at all, yet it still causes it to crash, strange?

Ok so its definatley possible that my PSU can crash my whole pc and stop working for a little bit then start working again and then crash again like seen in my case?

I was just under the impression that if a PSU was dead, it didn't turn on and that was it.

Ok so after my computer froze and had to be turned off I tried turning it on again a few times and nothing worked, but when I pulled out the two power connectors to my gpu the peripherals got powered up when they usually don't, indicating that it is working again? The monitors didn't connect obviously because the card wasn't running.

Does this mean that the PSU is dying and can't handle the load of the gpu more?

Maybe it crashes faster when I play games because my computer is drawing more power and the PSU can't handle it anymore?

Your power supply is definately becoming more suspect.
I was surprised to learn that Corsair is not such a great name when it comes to PSU's.
I'm also wondering if your PSU may be overheating. There is no sensor that you can
monitor temps thru software, but maybe feel it when you're gaming, and have a look at the fan
to make sure it's spinning well.

Hi thanks for the reply. Yes all of today i was thinking it was the PSU but I moved it to a different position and now it is getting PLENTY of airflow and the problem still persisted.

HOWEVER I just underclocked my GPU and put my core clock to 950 and it hasn't crashed over an hour of playing. This is making me believe that my GPU VRAM is overheating (i cant monitor vram temps).
