Hello,

as you can tell by the title I have a little issue. Just went out and bought a new GFX card along with some more RAM since I was only at 6gb. The first 2 I had were Kingston (2gb) Corsair (4gb) and I just got patriot (4gb) now windows and dxdiag still say 6.0gb installed, but CPUid says 10 and reads it. I didn't know which one was true or not. before, I did OC my cpu and memory a bit so that might be an issue, maybe not. the max bandwidth on the first 2 are the same @ 10700H (667 MHz) and the new one says 12800 (800 MHz) not sure if that's a problem or not. all of them say different frequencies but I mean they still work. So I was just wondering if windows just doesn't detect it but it still works or if something is conflicting. help would be much appreciated.

Okay I tried it and still nothing. Wouldn't even start and the DRAM light on my board was lit. Think I found the problem tho, the ram I had is 9-9-9-24 and the new stick I bought was 11-11-11-27. Not sure if that is the problem but I'm taking it back and getting one that matches the corsair I have

yeah still not working, bought a corsair vengeance with matching specs, (4gb 1600 MHz, 9-9-9-24) system still doesn't read it but 3rd party apps read it. :/ should I reset my bios since I did some memory tweaks and see if that works?

WAIT GUYS I MADE PROGRESS. I might sound like a noob but I consulted my boards manual and I had them in the wrong slots. 1-3 are the grey slots and it said to have 2 modules in the 2-4 slots. so I put the 4gb sticks in those and it worked! so I put the 2 back in. but a nother issue. the system now reads 10gb installed but says only 6gb useable.. is there a way to access all 10gb or is the other 4 gb a part of the dual channel shit? should I put a 4gb and the 2 in the blue slots and put the other 4gb in the grey slot (1) to see if I at least get 8gb out of 10?

looking all over google I haven't really found an answer to this, I tried the msconfig and the max memory is unchecked. what I can make from this is the slots on the left detect the ram fine, the manual for my bored says to have 2 in the blue slots 2-4 for dual channel to work or something. some people say its incompatible memory but so far all of the sticks have been detected. when I put the 2gb in the grey slot 3 its not detected by the system but in the 4th slot it is detected but not useable. so this is weird idk. 8gb is better than 6 I guess.
