My specs
AMD A10 6700 3.7Ghz
8GB of RAM
350W PSU

So far my choice is a GTX 950, since its minimal requirements for a PSU is 350, I figured I could get away with it without having to get a better PSU. If that's too much I don't mind getting a different card with a better PSU. Any suggestions on if the 950 is fine with my CPU or if I should go with a different card?

Hello

The graphics card should work well with your CPU, tho I would also recommend you put in a bigger PSU. It just gives you that extra headroom and then its also ready for your next upgrade. Go for something in the range of 500 - 750 W and make sure it is a good quality PSU. This is one part you don't want to be skimpy on because of its importance. A good or bad PSU can make a huge difference in the lifespan of your PC. I bought a high quality PSU a few years back and have been carrying it over from build to build, so it is really an investment worth making.

Hope this helps :)

a gtx 950 is sweet, but they require a 6-pin pcie cord from the power supply

Check your system to see if you have an available one.

If not, get a gtx 750 ti that runs off the power of the pcie slot alone ( no 6-pin)

if you want the gtx 950, you are going to need to buy a new power supply.

Something good, like an antec VP-450w

Your main GPU options for mid-range low priced cards are the GTX 750Ti, GTX 950, R9 360....

Also, I don't want to sound annoying and repetitive here but a new PSU is the best bet, as well as safest. You could always do some research on using a second PSU to power only your graphics card. I was planning on doing that for a while but I chose to spend about $20 more on a better Corsair PSU, and will use that alone. If you do plan to go with any of the three cards I mentioned above, then a 450watt PSU will do you good. But always head for extra headroom in case you decide to overclock
