So, here is the issue.

I recently just bought a brand new seagate 3tb 7200rpm drive to record videos with Dxtory. I benchmarked it and the speeds are about 150mb/s+. I have been trying to record 1080P 60FPS but every single codec I have tried just does not work. Here are a few of my key specs.

i5-3570k at 4.2ghz
8gb DDR3
GTX 970
SSD (OS Drive)
Seagate 3tb

Even if I put the quality so far down to make it look like complete garbage, I still get dips in my write speeds. Any suggestions on what I should do?

Also, here is a video to help illustrate what happens when my write speeds go below 60.

And here is the settings tutorial which I followed thoroughly
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qlj_ki5htZA

In his video, he puts his codec at about 250, and recommend 150 to be the lowest. I put mine at 40 in my video and had problems running it. In-game, my fps was at 100+.

Any suggestions would be helpful at this point. I am not sure what I should do next from here.
Please do not suggest a different recording software.

Update:
Here are a list of codecs I have tried already.
Lagarith Lossless - 35MB/s (No choppy video, but not 60fps)
UT Video
MagicYUV
X264
Dxtory Codec

Hey there, iFaymous.

Maybe you have to tweak a little bit the program you're using in order to work at its optimum for your system. I'd suggest that you try installing a game on your SSD, to see if you have the same issues. Cause if you do, you'll know for sure that it's not because of the HDD and it's probably due to some kind of settings you have to change with the video recording software. You could also download the HDD manufacturer's diagnostics tool and test the drive for errors, just to be on the safe side.

Please let me know how everything goes.
