Alright guys, I will be building my first PC!
I have a couple of concerns. but here we go.
I found a GTX 750Ti for $100
PNY VCGGTX750T2XPB-OC

I also found a GTX 960 for $165!
Asus TURBO-GTX960-OC-2GD5

Finally, I found a GTX 970 for $320.
EVGA 04G-P4-3975-KR

GTX 750 Ti to GTX 960 $ difference = $65
GTX 960 to GTX 970 $ difference = $155
Is $155 better in increase of performance from GTX 960 to GTX 970?
Is the increase worth it?

The GTX 750 Ti is very good for Wattage usage, but I need more power to play more games in the future. I plan to use this as my "Highschool/College and Gaming" PC. Which graphics card is good for the money? I would want the best performance for the years to come and want to play in the highest settings possible while maintaining the FPS.

Games I will play:
GTA V
BF4
Star Wars Battlefront
Project Cars
Minecraft
CSGO
etc.

Thanks for reading this far :D Say, "Hi Adrian" if you read the whole thing :)

well gtx970 is really an awesome card and would destroy GTX960 same like GTX 960 destroys 750ti. However new nvidia graphic cards are coming out in first/second quarter 2016 which will be really really big improvement. I recommend you to save some money and buy GTX 960 since you found it for cheap and you will be able to play all of those games on max setting with 960 and when new nvidia pascal gpu series come out sell 960 and buy that! :) Otherwise if you don't want to wait I would rather buy SLI 2x960 than 1x970 because the price is the same anyway :)

Assuming a half decent CPU like the i5-4590 then your gaming experience simply gets better as the GPU gets better.

I can only give you a benchmark summary that averages a lot of games to give you a rough idea.
https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GTX_960_STRIX_OC/29.html

Most of your games are fairly demanding so thus will look much better with the GTX970. With the GTX960 or GTX750Ti you can still get a good experience but not as good and the worse the GPU the more playing with settings you have to do to optimize your experience.

He can't play all those games maxed using a GTX960. Not GTAV. Not BF4.

Also, hard to suggest spending that much money then turning around and replacing it with a new card in 2016.

Don't get me wrong, the GTX960 is a fine card but you won't max and it also won't last you as long as the GTX970 will.

Does SLI need any requirements? I've seen it, but when I hear it, It reminds me of water cooling and a different Mobo.

You don't need a water cooling for it. Just a mobo that have 2xPCI slots and a case in which GPU length can fit :)

Also, How will 2 Way GTX 960 SLI defeat the GTX 970? I will have to pay more for the mobo, PSU, etc. If the performance is minimal, I will not SLI and will stick to the GTX 970 and or GTX 960.

GTX 960sli will be better than a single GTX 970 but it depends from game to game. Some games don't support SLI so GTX 970 would be better. It can be the same as GTX970 in some games or have +20-30fps more than GTX 970 it all depends whether the game supports SLI or not. If you're gonna spend more than $50 on SLI mobo and PSU then got for the single GTX 970 otherwise GTX960x2

Each step up that food chain gets you more and more performance.

The GTX 750 Ti is a low end video card. It will play most games at low to medium settings, and older, less demanding games at high settings.

The GTX 960 is a nice step up, but its still a low-mid level card. It will run most games the 750 Ti will run at one setting level higher than the 750 Ti at similar FPS numbers.

The GTX 970 is the only card of the 3 here that always comes with 4GB of memory on the video card... Double what the other two cards have. It will run most games on high to ultra settings, but with some of the newest games, you might need to go a bit lower to keep the frame rates up where most people like them. In any case, this is the strongest of these three cards by far. And it should be for the premium you pay for the card.

Unlike many other things involving computer components, video card prices really do normally tell the real story on performance. If there is a $100 card out there, a $200 card will pretty much get you double the pixels on your monitor. And a $300 card will get you 3 times the pixels on your monitor. Now sometimes, we trade off in-game settings to make the game look better for less pixels. And sometimes we need to lower those settings to get our video cards to give us more FPS (frames per second), to make gameplay smoother.

Right now, the GTX 970 is at the sweet spot for gaming. Another option for a little bit less money, but very similar performance is the AMD R9 390.

I will mostly play GTA V, BF4, Star Wars Storefront, Minecraft, CSGO, etc. Note: I WILL ONLY PLAY HIGH DEMANDING GAMES. So does that mean to stick with SLI?

What if a game that I play isn't on there? Does it just use 1 of the 2 GTX 960? Am I even able to play it still?

Also, ASRock 970 EXTREME4 or MSI 970A-46? I do like the MSI though :p Sorry for all of these questions! You are the best person on the forums I met!

If it isn't there than yes, it will use only one GTX960 like minecraft, I believe it isn't there but I think that a single 960 will run that game just fine tbh. ASRock 970 EXTREME4 would be a better choice, you also have MSI z97 gaming 3 and gaming 5 (more expensive version) that both have 2xPCI slots

Minecraft and CS:Go were never demanding, and run very well on low end hardware.

GTA V, BF4, and Star Wars are more demanding. But a GTX 970 will run them nicely, but probably not at ultra settings.

SLI doubles your costs, and brings with it an entirely new set of complexities that you never have to deal with when you only have a single video card. I never recommend someone who is not pretty familiar with video cards to use SLI. While it can be very nice in some games, it can also be very, very frustrating at times as well. So I recommend that you stick with a single card for now. If you want top end performance, The GTX 980 Ti is out there for $650, which is very close to the cost of a pair of GTX 970's. And it will never have the SLI issues. And it will run those same games at ultra settings in most cases, depend on what resolution you plan on using it at.
