What make and model IP camera's do you have?

If they did not come with drivers and (possibly) some supporting "DVR" software you will probably need to visit the manufacturer's website download the software.

Or you could just do a search for third party application software that supports your cameras.

Either way you should be able to find the necessary user guide/manual containing some level of instructions.

I have three hikvision DS-2CD2432F-I(W) cubes. I do have the included software but haven't attempted to install anything yet. I was just trying to figure out if there were any benefits or problems with connecting my NVR/home computer to my poe switch before going to the router. Or do I need it connected directly to the router? Thank you.

Is the NVR/home computer dedicated to the camera security system?

If so, I would put all three cameras and the "NVR" on the POE switch provided that it is truly a switch and can keep the traffic amongst the cameras and NVR/home computer (with "included software") from the main network. I.e., a smart POE switch that you can manage.

Otherwise the NVR/home computer could go directly to the router and the router directs the traffic. Plus you may, depending on the router, establish priorities, for the port being used for recording on the NVR/home computer.

Does that all fit in with your concept?
