Sup guys. I have decied to build my first gaming PC, here is what I have come up with.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4460K
Motherboard: ASUS H97 pro gamer
VGA: GGB gtx 970 G1Gaming
Memory: Kingston 1600 16 Gb (8x2)
Storage: WD Blue 1 TH
Galax 120 Gb SSD
Power Supply: Seasonic S12II 620w
Case: Deepcool Kendomen

I wonder if this rig can last me 3-4 years in the gaming world? Especially there is DirectX12 coming up pretty soon.

Thanks for every reply.
:D

For your CPU why don't you go for the newer 4590 or 4690K, its not much more money but newer and faster (the K if you want to overclock). Otherwise this should last a while unless there is some sort of huge advancements which we just don't see considering the progress of chips these days. If your GPU ends up being not up o the task in a few years you can always SLI with a second 970 and be right back up to speed.

BTW DX12 is here, theres just no game support, yet.

I suggest getting into the new skylake series platform, get the i5 6600k and why do you need 16gb of ram, I suggest dropping it to 8gb 2x4gb ram and using the money a cpu cooler and else where, this should be good but I suggest getting a 750w power supply so you can have an option to sli the gtx 970... otherwise this will achieve high settings @ 1080p...

If you are not going to OC get the 4590. Newer faster chip for about $10 more than the one you picked.

You may consider SLI a few years down the road if you have performance issues, but it likely will not be required to keep up at all.

Oh ok although it is recommended so you have the option to oc and sli 2 in years when it becomes slow, yes that is a good gaming graphics, I guess you forgot to mention it before editing it or I skipped a line (although I'm 100% sure it wasn't there)
