I moved recently, and the power cord for my PC was lost. A standard replacement cable (from BestBuy) didn't work (it fit, but the unit didn't fully power up when turned on). I haven't been able to find a recommended replacement cable or reach the company.

What power cord would work with this power supply?
FirePower ModXStream Pro 600W 80Plus Semi-Modular High Performance ATX PC Power Supply 600MXSP

To generalize this question, how does one pick a power cable that will work with a given power supply?

Thanks

There should be no tricks to the power cable, if it fits in the PSU, it should work. I'll suggest returning/replacing the one from BB and trying with another - can you elaborate a little on "didn't fully power up when turned on", I don't think I understand that (at least I'm not picturing it)

C12Friedman, to elaborate on "didn't fully power on," the fans turn (sluggishly) the LEDs light up and the mobo makes some noise, but then that's it.
I'd noticed this before, back when I had the original cable. At one point I'd mixed up my power cables for the printer and the computer, not thinking it'd make a difference. The computer responded as I'd just described when using the standard power cable from the printer. When I switched back to the original power cable, everything turned on normally and worked fine for over a year (up to now).

That partial start seems to be indicative of a blown capacitor or IC. It may be the motherboard or may exist in the PSU itself. Look over the motherboard for any blown or leaky capacitors or scorched areas to start with. How old is the PSU, if nothing is noticeably wrong on the motherboard and the PSU is within it's 3 year warranty, I think I would RMA the PSU - sounds to me as though the 12V rail is unstable (just a guess based on "sluggish fan starting")

There's been something gnawing at me about this, it finally came to me, is the power cord loose at the wall socket at all? Failure to get a good connection from a worn socket might be an issue since power cables usually work. Just throwing it out there since it's possible the blades of the plug are thinner on one set than another...
