I would like to get the community's ideas on best Linux distros suitable for an old Dell e310. I'm looking for something I'd be used to (like Win XP or Win 7). The desktop is maxed at 2gb RAM and has the integrated Intel 915G chipset. I'm not into gaming -- just want internet for email and not much else. Linux has so many distros, it is confusing. I have looked into Linux Lite and Linux Mint somewhat. Recommendations, please. Thanks.

If you're not familiar with Linux, then Mint is probably the easiest to get used to.

You may notice that there is a "regular" version of Linux Mint, along with one called KDE and another called Xfce. The Xfce version is designed to be a more streamlined version that puts less demands on your system, so for an older machine with 2GB of RAM, that may run a bit smoother for you.
