Running game off of an external hard drive

I installed a couple games on an external hard drive and all of them refuse to work and give a not responding label. One of the game I used to run off my internal hard drive and now after separately installing it on my external hard drive it doesnt work. I honestly have no idea what the issue is and any help would be awesome! Thanks

Its a Seagate 1TB running off of a usb 3.0, the issue is that all the games stop responding before the loading screen open, it remains as a blank either white or black window.

You should be able to run games from an external drive although they may not run as well as on internal drives. I'd check the event viewer for any clues as to what is happening. It sounds like the drive stopped responding during game load.You can always run a chkdsk on your external drive to make sure the file system is intact. You can also use a utility like seatools or WD Lifeguard to check the status of the drive.

Im not sure of the exact model but I bought it about two months ago. The computer Im running it on is a Lenovo Yoga 11s. I know this isnt a good gaming computer by any means but the games did run fairly smoothly when on the internal hard drive.
