I currently have an AMD Athlon X4 860K with a coolermaster hyper 212 evo as the cpu cooler. The Mobo I am using is a Gigabyte F2A88X-D3H. I was wondering roughly how much I could OC my CPU as I feel that it needs just a slight bit more processing power when gaming? (Doesn't run that hot)

This is my first post and first computer build so if any info is needed just ask and i'll try and let you know asap

Just docwhat you can with the multiplier to begin with mate.
Disable c1e states, set multiplier to 20 & disable turbo core.

Do a prime test while watching your thermal margin in and overdrive - if stable up the mtiplier by 0.5 & repeat.

4.2ghz normally doable on stock voltage on good chip- you may find you're happy with that.

This will probably be a stupid question but i'm new to this so I knew about the multiplier and turbo off so that all cores run only at the represented speed and not more but what is c1e states?

C1e States enables power saving on odd cores while under load - you want this disabled - it can cause stuttering effects while gaming - you can leave c6 states enabled (this will let the CPU downclock volts/speed under low usage) which you do want .
