i'm currently using a corsair cs 550m (gold efficiency psu)
my other specs:
intel core 2 duo E8400 (planning to upgrade to skylake i5)
2x2gb RAM
gtx 550ti 1gb
128gb ssd
500gb hdd
since my computer is hooked to my house backup UPS and didn't find the use for a new ups so does the PSU protect my pc from low voltages ? and does low voltage destroys psu?

Solution

Having a good UPS rarely hurts. If the UPS "shouts" as you said, it means line voltage dropped below the UPS' brownout/outage threshold and it switched to battery power to cover that, which would be normal.

The Corsair CS series is not the greatest thing out there (tier three) but it is easily more than adequate for your current system. There should be no reason to worry about it.
Low voltage can definitely ruin the computer (usually only ruin the PSU though), if the voltage drops below the voltage ratings of the PSU (depending on model either within ~20% of it's intended voltage or between 85 and 250V for a very good one).

And no, if the voltage drop is sustained, it will likely shut off automatically.

If your house has voltage stability issues, you should have that looked at as it's a fire hazard.

You PC power supply will accept 100V - 240V according to Corsair's website. Any voltage in that range should be OK. If you typically have voltage sags, it is difficult to say how low the voltage gets for split seconds. Your PC could still shutdown. But 100VAC or above consistent voltage will be fine.

A sustained low line voltage condition means the PSU will need to draw higher input current to provide the same amount of output power. This will increase stress on many primary-side components, reduce efficiency and potentially shorten the PSU's lifespan.

If your location has frequent voltage sags, you may want to get some form of line voltage regulator. Many UPS have a simple AVR transformer to buck/boost their line voltage by 10% to keep their output voltage reasonably close to 120V without using the battery.

i looked at the reviews of hardocp ,there is no word about testing below 100v and there is no word about the PFC feature ,wondering whether i should invest in a ups because i'm currently using a iball nirantar ups 621VA which has a dead battery i'm thinking whether i should replace the battery and reuse the UPS

i'm pretty sure that when i was using the ups ,the ups will frequently shout as if there is no power in my home .so are u suggesting me to invest in a good ups? and is my corsair psu bad?

my pc won't shut down but when i was using the computer with a ups ,the ups used to shout as if there is no power for a split second and then return to normal state
