Laser: ULS 3.6 versalaser
Computer: iMac Newest model.

I have a iMac running Win7 through bootcamp. It boots fine without the Laser engraver connected, but if i try a boot with it plugged in, the computer makes it to the windows logo and then displays a blank screen. It doesnt seem to be a boot issue due to the fact that it at least starts the windows boot procedure. It also boots fine with other USB devices connected.

Any Ideas?

I assume this works perfectly on another native Windows box, and it also works perfect if you plug in the device AFTER booting up.

Well then logic says, a combination of software driver and the iMac hardware is messing Windows up, and when it attempt to initialize the USB ports, something goes awry.

Now this is no magic pill am giving you, but can you boot with device plugged in, but either not powered on, or just simply off-line? are those acceptable solutions while you wait for a perfect one?

I definitely appreciate the feedback guys.

popatim: the engraver functions correctly if it is connected after windows boots.

jsmithepa: The engraver is never truly off. the problem occurs even with the laser powered down when the computer boots.

to clarify, I have instructed those that will be using it that they need to unplug it during boot and am using that as a temp fix for now. I posted here because the company that produces the laser was unable to provide any fixes as they had never seen the issue before.

The laser can be used so it is not urgent, but my supervisor wants it working correctly, so I'm in a bit of a bind. the only saving grace is that I haven't been given a deadline on the fix.
