Corsair K90 Keyboard Firmware Update

I bought a Corsair Vengeance K90 keyboard for my gaming PC running Windows 10. I've been trying to set macros, but I've not been able to get them to work. Corsair's configuration software detects the keyboard and records the strings, but they don't work in practice. When I looked at the system information, I discovered that the firmware reads NA which is the most likely culprit of the issue. When I downloaded Corsair's firmware update software and tried to run it, the installer gave up saying, "Set firmware update mode failed."

After trying every combination of USB ports, a different computer, and more arbitrary repeats than I can count, and after looking everywhere on Google for an actual solution to the problem, I finally gave up. Thoughts?

I am at a loss as to where to put this thread, so this being the most general I decided on this section. If it needs moved, mods can move it.

Great! It works now. So my problem was almost exactly like LordLobo's on the Corsair forum with a few differences. First of all, I didn't start with his problem, my solution started with about step 14 where I uninstalled not one but two HID Keyboard Devices (I assume because of the two USB ports the keyboard uses). I had not been seeing the "BOOTLOADER" item in my devices, only the proper keyboard name. Also, the firmware updater still did not finish; it repeated the problem I had previously been having but continued the steps successfully regardless. Other than those discrepancies, the solution went just the way it's stated.

For future reference, the solution to my problem is as follows:

1) MOST IMPORTANT STEP Go to Start->Control Panel->Power Options->Change Plan Settings->Change Advanced Power Settings->USB Settings->USB selective suspend setting->Disabled
2) Select one of the "HID Keyboard Devices" in Control Panel>Devices and Printers>Corsair Vengeance K90 Keyboard
3) Go to Hardware tab and click 'Properties'
4) Click 'Change Settings'
5) Click the Driver Tab
6) Click 'Uninstall'. Windows will cry about this. Let it do its thing
7) Repeat steps for the other "HID Keyboard Device"
18) Once you 'OK' everything they K90 won't work at all. DON'T PANIC! You should also not see KBD BOOT LOADER in Devices and Printers
19) UNINSTALL K90 EVERYTHING
20) Install the K90 Firmware Updater.
21) When the firmware is installed, start the updater application up and update the keyboard.
22) It should complete at this point (For me, it didn't say it completed but it apparently did). Your keyboard won't light up just now. DON'T PANIC!
23) Unplug the K90 from it's current port. Plug it into another one.
24) Start the Software Installer and let it complete.
25) Keyboard should light up.
