I work in a leased office space where we rent internet service but do not have a network computer. I have 1 computer that plugs into the offices network for internet only. Everything I need is stored or accessed on either my desktop or on the cloud.
My issue is that I purchased a wireless printer that I'd like to place on the other side of the room and not run a cable to it. How can I print from my desktop to a wireless printer when I have no outgoing wireless signal?

Would a simple wireless USB driver do the trick?

Currently the printer is hooked with a standard cable so I'm guessing i will also have to erase the printer from my computer and set it up from scratch.

Please advise.

CAN'T. Takes 2 to tango as they say.

Driving what? Hopefully a USB WIFI dongle and you can configure it in ad-hoc mode, meaning you don't need a router and the only purpose for this USB dongle is to talk to your printer and nothing else.

Correct, a USB WIFI dongle. Not a "driver". My mistake.

That's exactly what I want to do. Can you explain or point me in the right direction to achieve this? HP Z220 work station and HP 7610 Printer although I doubt that really matters much.

The next layer of the question is: Would two different desktops configured the same way be able to talk to the same printer?
If necessary I can break this of to a separate forum once the first portion is resolved. Not sure how this group work. It's my first post.

Thanks

Negative.

For multi-access, THEN you need a stand-alone WIFI Access point, now you don't need a fast latest&greatest for printing, since this is a relatively slow device. The cheapest WIFI Access Point with a name you can recognize will do the trick. The Access point needs to have DHCP built-in. Then each of your PC will have a WIFI dongle.

Go into Best Buys, explain your situation, tell them you want the cheapest WIFI AP with DHCP and how many USB WIFI dongles as needed, and they will take care of you. If you don't know how to hook this things up, the Geek Squad can pay u a home visit.
