I've been looking for a little while (like an hour) but I haven't been able to find much. Basically I'm thinking of upgrading my motherboard so I can get DDR4. I've got a 4770k processor currently, and I was wondering if the new socket (1151) was backwards compatible, so that I could use my current processor (1150), as I don't have the money to pay for new RAM, a new processor, and a new motherboard.

tl;dr: Will an LGA 1151 motherboard work with an LGA 1150 CPU?

RAM has seldom made a noticeable performance difference. The only time it matters is when you have integrated AMD graphics. The move to DDR 4 right now just isn't worth it. Wait till your ready to rebuilt. Your CPU is good for another 2-3 years easy.
