I have an older hp pavilion (http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01746794) that I had to replace the hard drive on, and put in a western digital black a couple of years ago.
I have been trying for a week now to back up all the data on that drive, have been using a Seagate Backup Plus 2TB Desktop External Hard Drive USB 3.0 (STDT2000100). Have tried everything, even down to copying batches of files from c drive to external drive while in safe mode, and the computer freezes, or fails to find device, or other issues.
Any suggestions for an external drive that can hold at least 1 TB and would be the most friendly in terms of interacting with an older computer running windows xp and usb 2.0 ports? Want to try one other external drive (I was having issues with it even on my brand new machine running windows 10) before getting "professional help"
Thanks!
