Ok. So I have had my gaming rig for the past 2 years now. It has Corsair vengeance 16gb ddr3 sticks, 4x4. Once in a while, say after some months usually, when I boot up my pc I get no display. The PC totally boots into the OS etc, but no display on screen. Dont get any check signal cable/ no signal message on screen. Just the orange light on the tv power indicator lights up. It lights up blue when there is a display.
So here is the funny issue.
I remove any RAM stick at random and with my fingers just rub across the golden part of the stick with my finger, the one which has the leads. The part of the ram stick which sticks into the board in the slot. Dont know how else to describe in technical terms. haha.
I then stick the stick back in the ram slot ( lol ),....and...boom, I got my display back......
It works every single time. But lately, I have had to do it about 4 times in the last 2 days which has got me concerned. Also this one time, I was browsing the web and suddenly the screen went black. No display again. Again tried the above solution and my display was up and running again.. What is this weird thing , rubbing the golden part of the stick....I learnt this while I was working at a call center for a month as an IT intern...lol..they had some weird ways to fix up stuff,,,,like whoop the PSU a couple of times from the rear, bam, the PSU starts working. It also shoved out alot of dust,,,in the form of brown smoke..hehehe.... :\
