how to load windows 7 on new hard drive dell without disc

Solution
Contact Dell to purchase your restore disk set or purchase a retail copy from your favorite vendor (a much more expensive option over the restore disk set).

I take it you never performed a backup or created your own media when you setup the pc?

First thing to do on a new computer that doesn't come with an install disk is use the back up tools from the control panel to create a recovery disc and a system image on external storage or DVDs. If you don't have any back up call Dell or shop on eBay for an install disc but be careful on eBay some sellers offer non-genuine copies that will give you problems activating so make sure it's an original Dell Disc. The only quicker way is borrowing an install disc from a friend that owns a Dell. It has to be the same version of Windows as the COA sticker. The year doesn't matter just the version needs to match either 32 bit, 64 bit, Home Premium, starter, student or the Pro disc. It is very important.
