How to change speed of fans on a PWN fan hub?

I have my CPU fan plugged into my CPU FAN spot on my motherboard because it does not reach the fan hub. All of my case fans are plugged into the fan hub which is plugged into the CPU OPT slot. When I try to use gigabyte software to change the speed of the fans for the CPU FAN and CPU OPT fans it only changes the speed of the CPU FAN. Is this because I need to plug my cpu fan into the fan hub?

I am a gigabyte board and a hyper 212 evo. T

I'm not sure which motherboard you have but most of the time you can control that extra CPU OPT header through the Bios if I remember right. You could buy an extension though and plug the hub into your CPU FAN header and the cooler into the hub, that should work as well. :)
