Can i run 1866mhz ram with this setup

currently im running at 1600 as stated by my processor (i7 4790k) im wondering if i can run it up to 1866 as that is the ram that i bought. the mobo i have is the ASUS Maximus Hero VII i know it can support 1866. but im just wondering how i can do so with out messing up my computer. currently in the bios is set up for 1600, do i set it to auto or 1866? then what? step by step please.

A 4690k/4790k can easily work with 1866MHz ram. The ram comes default speed of 1600,in order to get the full 1866,all you'll need to do is enable XMP. This is a factory set adjustment to the memory with predetermined regulations for speed, voltage and timings. It's in bios.

Just go into the bios and in the ram section manually enable the XMP level to i think 1.0 than check

Normally you enable XMP and select profile 1 (normally is a profile 2 that can provide slightly higher performance)

If by chance you have a set of the Kingston Fury you may have to set up manually (they operate off PnP rather than XMP.

i screwed up i put 4690k and i have the 4790k i guess i kinda spazed out typing it. i corrected it now.
