I'm looking to build a new computer for fun, but would like to try to save some cash since my current computer is still really new. With that said, I was wondering if it would be possible to convert my OS over to my new computer. I have a 64-bit Windows 8.1 operating system now, have the recovery disk that came with my Dell, and would like to find a way to convert my current OS, since my current computer will be dismantled for spare parts and what not anyway. Also, I'm not sure if I will yet, but I was thinking about taking the 1 TB HD from my current computer and using it as a secondary HD in my new build. Would doing that change anything? If this would make it possible to transfer my OS without having to buy another Windows key I wouldn't see a reason not to do it.
I'm in the very early stages of planning right now, so would love to hear about any and all options that might be available to me.
