I bought a used computer for a friend that had a pirated copy of Windows 7 on it. I'm about to go buy a legal copy of 7, but the computer didn't come with any motherboard installation discs. Would I be safe to reinstall windows? I ask this because from what I remember when putting together my own computer, I had to install the internet drivers from the motherboard disc to even get online to download the rest of the drivers. I'm afraid about installing a legal copy on 7, not having the drivers, then being unable to do anything further.

Solution
You should go to the motherboard manufacturer's website and get all the latest drivers on a known good computer. Put them on a DVD or USB stick. When you need them just copy them off and install them.

Cool man, thanks a lot. Got it all up and running. :) Now I just gotta wait for his cd to come. For some reason not a single store sold physical copies anymore so I ordered one, and had to install windows using my OEM disc and will activate it with his cd key when it arrives.
