My computer (lenovo y410p) has Mint 17.2 MATE and I am trying to set up a wirless hotspot for my Android phone using my computer that is connected through the ethernet. While I don't know as much about this, it seemed like a fairly basic idea, and I had a friend who got it to work quickly with a program on his Windows computer.

However, I can't seem to find an easy way to do this. As far as I can see, there is no easy button on the Network Manager here to just make a hotspot using the computer (although maybe I missed it), which is one of the ways recommended for some older Mint versions.
The other method I found was this: http://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/1832
which seems to not be working as well (created the network, and my card does support AP and everything from what I can tell as written in the instructions). I can't see the network on my phone

Could someone with more experience than me in this area give me some clearer directions/walkthrough in terms of how to get this working? I would prefer an easier solution to a more convoluted one.

Actually just managed to solve it by following the advice again that was in the link I posted. I think I was either editing the file it told me to edit incorrectly or I forgot to check the Hidden Networks box. Either way, it works great now
