First PCIe Slot isn't working on my Asrock 990FX Extreme 3 P1.2

My PSU is a RM650i 80+ Gold and my GPU's are 2 HD 7950''s. The system only boot's when the videocard is connected to the second PCie Slot. (i have 3 PCie X16 slot's). Software or Hardware?

Did that slot work in the past? Refer to your motherboard manual...some boards want you to use specific slots for SLI/Crossfire. Is that mobo Crossfire compatible? What's the motherboard model as well as the full system specs please.

Windows does not care what slot your GPU is plugged into, thus it can only be hardware.

Assuming you have tried both cards in both slots and both of them work in slot 2 and neither of them work in slot 1 then the problem is your motherboard and you will have to do a warranty return on it.
