Hello,

I have a DataTraveler 100 G2 by Kingston, 16GB and was used previously as an OS drive for Ubuntu and now I can't seem to format it back into FAT32 or NTFS. I've done it before going both ways but now I have errors I haven't seen before and none of my google searches have gotten anywhere.

This happens when right clicking onto the drive and choosing format:

This happens using disc manager:

This happens using diskpart:

Not sure what to do now :(

Solution
Hi
I hope your usb is a genuine kingston and not a fake
It is possible that a usb or other disk partitioned by linux cant be accesed by windows
If you have a copy of gparted linux iso on cd or usb
Boot up a pc
Insert the kingston devic
Use gparted to remove all partitions
Then add a partition and format to fat 32 or ntfs

If it fails to format it has probably got physical damage and should be binned

If it formats test it under windows maybe chkdsk or one of the programs designed to test usb & similar flash memory devices
Such as h2testw
